I react to my old diet from a What I Eat in a Day in 2016 when I was following the Starch Solution for weight loss!

✹ Recipes ✹

KUNG PAO CHICKPEAS
1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
4 green onions, sliced
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 can sliced water chestnuts
1/4 cup roasted peanuts

sauce ingredients:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon chili paste (or less if you don’t like spice)
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Whisk together sauce ingredients in a small bowl. In a nonstick wok or skillet over medium-high heat, stir-fry peppers, green onions, garlic and ginger with a little bit of water until tender. Add chickpeas and water chestnuts. Add sauce and stir until sauce has thickened. Stir in peanuts and remove from heat.

  1. Girl! I thought I was the only vegan on the planet who had no interest in oats! I don't even know why…I don't hate them, I just can't make myself want to eat them no matter what I put on them 🙁

  2. it's so weird to me how so many people eat their oats sweet. i like it kind of savory. always make it just water+oats+salt. maybe little bit milk sometimes for creaminess but not too much that it doesn't turn sweet. i'm not overly salting my oats but just a little bit goes a long way. lately i've been cooking my oats with red lentils 😀 idk may sound weird but it's good!

  3. Man, I ate the exact same way a couple of years back… I cringe thinking back to my mindset and also the way I physically felt from overeating constantly and the lack of protein and fats!

    I feel like (the strict interpretation of) the starch solution and raw till 4 attracted people who had an unhealthy relationship with food and their body to begin with (that's how it was for me and for a lot of vegan YouTubers, anyway) and who felt safe on these diets because although portion control wasn't necessary, there would still be elements of restriction. Back then, I didn't even think that what I was doing was toxic! Thank goodness the majority of us has grown and evolved 🙌

  5. try mashing a super ripe banana, vanilla , cinnamon, 30g quick oats (pure, not the sugared sachet) and add water to cook – i add a lot cuz i like mine soupy too) and cook on stove , soooo yum the banana sweetens it nicely and makes it substantial

It's not that you were too peppy back then, that's when I found you, I've continued to follow and learn from you because you've experienced life and continue to grow and have life changes; been unafraid to share with your followers and express your thoughts and feelings; and so many can relate to you because you are so very down to earth. You're incredible and I love your videos and the fact you're open and express life experiences with you community. It makes me continue to watch even if I'm not vegan. I've learned so much from you, meal prep wise, and life wise. I appreciate you and your videos and all your honesty that you've offered over the internet!

  7. wow! this is so interesting that you looked back at your diet in 2016 because I can totally relate. In 2016, I was doing raw til 4 and I was so scared of fat, like i didn't eat any overt fats. I was so othorexic. I feel like it was so bad for my health to not have been eating fats and enjoying my food. I was so fearful of food. I'm not like that anymore thank goodness, but it's so crazy when I look back at it too. thanks for sharing! I don't think you should do another starch solution video because it didn't make you feel good, but it would be cool to see you update your old zero fat recipes.

  8. Just a heads-up: Potatoes are a potassium-rich food. I mean, better potassium source than bananas! Saying that, you need a 1-to-1 ratio of sodium-to-potassium in order for your body to use it effectively. They're kind of like Omega 3's and Omega 6's in that way. One of the worst things you can do for your body's inflammation (water-weight) is to have an imbalance of those two. So eat your potatoes with salt!

  9. Eating this way exasperated my IBS and resulted in SIBO. For some people maybe this works, but not for me. I’m a dairy free pescatarian now and feel much better in my health. Hopefully I can be vege again one day if my gut allows
